Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

*Big news, everyone! Our long national nightmare is over and Trevor Zegras has a contract! Jimbo, you’re up. [BSH]

* Got a few schedule details yesterday too, as we learned that the Flyers will open up at home against the Penguins. That’ll be fun. Also learned they have a back-to-back in the FIRST WEEK OF THE SEASON. Because of course they do. [Inquirer]

*And when will that game take place, you ask? In SEPTEMBER. Because, in case you forgot, the NHL has made the season even longer. Just as we all wanted. [NBC Sports Philly]

*One of the Flyers’ recently drafted goalie prospects is making the jump from Europe to major junior this season, and it’s something worth looking at. [BSH]

*Related, another of the Flyers’ goalie prospects has made it on to the list of the best 20 goalie prospects in hockey, so that’s pretty neat. [The Athletic]

*If Danny Briere and the rest of the Flyers’ front office still want to make some moves this summer to try and improve the roster for this upcoming season, there are a few remaining free agents who may be able to help on that front. [BSH]

*If you’re curious, here’s an up-to-date list of all of the free agents that have been signed so far. In case you wanted to know who is off the table. [ESPN]

*And finally, looks like Detroit has given Steve Yzerman the ol’ Holmgren treatment and fired him up. Boy that Yzerplan sure was a dud, huh? [Sportsnet]
