Travis Konency scored his second goal of the season tonight against the Penguins, and it was a milestone goal as it was the 200th of his career as a Flyer. Konecny, who became the seventeenth Flyer to hit that achievement, scored the tally early in the second on a nice shot that beat Penguins goalie Arturs Silovs clean and low on the stick side. Sean Couturier and Bobby Brink had the assists. Konecny nearly potted his 200th minutes earlier on a shorthanded attempt but Silovs just got enough of his pad on it to prevent a goal.

Konecny has had four seasons where he scored 24 goals each season, which accounts for almost half of the regular season tallies. And he had two consecutive seasons of 30-plus goals, getting 31 in 2022-23 and then 33 the following season. Although he’s had a slow start to this season, and a far from impressive second half of 2024-25, Konecny hopefully starts looking more like his former self and not the forward who looked a bit lost and snakebit at times the last 50-plus regular season games.
In terms of all time Flyers goal scorers. Konecny was tied with Ilkka Sinisalo for seventeenth with 199 before scoring Tuesday night. He should be able to surpass Gary Dornhoefer (202) and Wayne Simmonds (203) sooner than later, but might have a tougher task surpassing the Flyer who is fourteenth on the list: Sean Couturier. Couturier currently has 208 goals and should only add to that total this season. There’s a bit of a gap between Couturier’s 208 and the Flyers who are tied in thirteenth position: current Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet and Mark Recchi, both who ended up with 232 goals each in Philadelphia. It’s doubtful Konency will end up reaching Bill Barber (420) over the course of his career, but he could end up possibly somewhere between John Leclair (333) and Bobby Clarke (358).
Regardless, it’s a nifty milestone for a Flyer who will probably join Sean Couturier as possible career Flyer. The fact his 200th goal came against the dreaded state rivals was icing on the cake. The goal allowed the Flyers to pull into the lead after falling behind early in this tightly played matchup, and if this result holds, and that milestone goal also plays its part in driving the Flyers to a much sought after win, for a player like Konecny who always seems more concerned with team results than individual accolades, that will be reward enough.
