Tuesday Morning Fly By: The last time at home

*Well, we’ve nearly made it. Tonight is the penultimate game of the season, the last game at home, against those Columbus Blue Jackets. Will Tony DeAngelo make an appearance? Who knows. Seems unlikely. Maybe the Flyers ought to buy him out. [BSH]

*Big news yesterday was Nick Seeler’s nomination for the Masterton Trophy. The NHL’s most depressing award, if you will. Congrats, Nick! [BSH]

*Nick doesn’t have the traditional horrible personal tragedy that gets you the nom for this award, which is good? But he’s had to overcome some stuff, and he has, so good for him. [Inquirer]

*I personally really love these kinds of lists because I like to read the premise, think of my answer for the Flyers, and then furiously scroll down past the Ottawa Senators to see what The Experts gave as their answer. In this case, I was wrong on both counts. [The Athletic]

*Some folks think that the regular season success of an NHL team has no real bearing on how they will perform in the playoffs. Regular season doesn’t matter, and such. But it just might! Good teams are good, what a concept! [TSN]

*Let’s continue with the numbers and the stats and such with a look at how one can effectively evaluate shot quality. [Sportsnet]

*And finally, never forget: Gritty is an anti-establishment comrade. [BSH]
