He is here. Matvei Michkov has donned the Orange and Black and is officially a Philadelphia Flyer. So far, through the rookie camp, preseason, training camp, and the first three regular-season games, the 19-year-old has beyond impressed us. His ability to read plays in the offensive zone while also giving a crap everywhere else on the ice, is just a pleasure to watch.
But, when he first stepped on NHL ice in Vancouver, how did it go? We know that he ended the game without any points and was on the ice for 18 minutes and 32 seconds — but how did it truly go beyond the boxscore? Additionally, we shouldn’t make light of the fact that Jett Luchanko is also here.
He had a little bit of a less noticeable presence during his debut, but he still did somethings that were key in the eventual win.
Chris Maher is here to break it all down. All the noticeable shifts and all the little things that Michkov and Luchanko did during their debuts in Vancouver. He studied the tape and is here for the Tape Breakdown.

Tape Breakdown will be a recurring segment done by Chris at least once a week to give you all the ins and outs of each shift and highlight certain players’ performances in recent games. It starts with the rookies, but maybe some key players will get their turn to have their play dissected on video on the Broad Street Hockey channel.
Your support means a ton and even more support means that we can keep on producing content like this that can dive further into games and what we’re seeing on our screens. Hope you enjoy!
