Wednesday Morning Fly By: Down to 39

Photo Credit: Heather Cattai / Heather Barry Images

*We’ve 39 days ’til preseason hockey and by god, that’s Matvei Michkov’s number! And we did a silly little thing where we predicted when MM39 will hit 39 firsts in what will hopefully be a long NHL career. [BSH]

*Jamie Drysdale is almost as important a cog in the rebuild machine as Michkov, and if you’re a subscriber over at Charlie’s website you can take a look at his season review, as well as his thoughts on what we might get out of Drysdale this year. [PHLY]

*Up at 19 on the 25 Under 25 is a guy we know but need to see more of, Adam Ginning. [BSH]

*Speaking of prospects, we’ve got a late-Summer Prospect Report! Check in on how the kids are doing in the various (okay maybe not various) and sundry Summer Things. [BSH]

*The Tampa Bay Lightning are apparently worth $2 billion dollars. Remind me again why we need a salary cap so low if owners are so rich? Anyhoo, wonder what the Flyers would be valued at… [Sportsnet]

*There was some actual Hockey News yesterday and it was good stuff! Not one but TWO offer sheets! Both directed at the Oilers! Finally, someone does something fun! [The Athletic]

*And finally, in that vein, a look back at the history of offer sheets in the cap era. A list that, if NHL GMs weren’t boring dorks working in collusion with each other, would probably be a lot longer. [Sportsnet]
