Wednesday Morning Fly By: Here we go

Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

*Happy July 1, hockey fans! It’s sure to be a thrilling one with the likes of <checks notes> Anthony Mantha available! Don’t worry though, the Flyers made their big signing yesterday. [BSH]

*Alright but really, here are some players the Flyers might want to think about targeting now that the free agency window has opened. [Inquirer]

*Or maybe they should just sit it out all together? Sometimes the best move a team can make is no move at all. [The Athletic]

*If Danny Briere does decide to do a little something, we think these five former RFAs are a good place to start. [BSH]

*As usual there are few things better than a ranked list we can all argue about, so how’s about a ranked list of the available free agents? [ESPN]

*That’s not all, though. This list ranks the top ONE HUNDRED available free agents. Did you even know there were 100 available free agents? That’s a lot of available free agents. [The Athletic]

*Anyway, enough of all of that. Flyers’ Development Camp continues and yesterday, Nikita Grebenkin was skating! A huge development, given we weren’t even sure he’d be back to start the season this year. [BSH]

*Not on the ice, though? Jett Luchanko. And everyone is being real weird and vague about why. [Inquirer]

*Porter Martone decided to make an appearance at rookie camp this year, despite not at all needing to be there. He has his reasons, though. [Inquirer]

*Speaking of large gentlemen attending dev camp; New Guy Maksim Sokolovskii has been impressing folks so far and the Flyers really think they’ve found something with this kid. Here’s hoping! [Inquirer]

*And finally, obviously you’d be nuts not to want a player of Zach Werenski’s caliber on your favorite hockey team. But maybe, right now, this just isn’t the right move for the Flyers to make. [BSH]
