It’s something that every single hockey fan can get excited about and interested in: Potential new jerseys that your favorite team is going to be wearing next season.
For the upcoming 2026-27 season, the NHL is going to be unveiling a league-wide “Hometown Remix” campaign to give each team an alternate sweater to wear throughout the season. While the description is so vague — certainly more mysterious than the previous “Reverse Retro” jerseys that were fairly easy to imagine as a re-design of some old jerseys with modern colors, or something like that — there have been some leaked looks that give a little bit of a better description.
The Florida Panthers could be going with a Miami Vice-inspired look with an eye-bulging pink base color and some stark highlights. Not sure about what it will look like on the ice — it will either be something fun and unique or it will give us something even worse to watch than the 2025-26 Panthers. Additionally, the New York Islanders look to be returning back to the Fisherman jerseys but making it modern.
The wonderful people (person?) at Icethetics breaks it all down for each team and what they are hearing from their own sources, and there’s some interesting looks going on.
Outside of all that potentially dizzying amount of new looks on the ice, the Philadelphia Flyers could be going with something more muted, but also giving what some fans want.
What the Flyers’ “Hometown Remix” jerseys could look like
According to the video, there isn’t much information currently available, but we do at least have a color that the Flyers are going with.
“The Flyers were originally reported to be in black with that last group, but I’ve since learned it’ s actually a dark grey base for Philly,” the narrator said. “Their ‘Reverse Retros’ were really just re-colored versions of their home and away uniforms, so I do wonder if we’ll get more of the same, or see them finally break out of the box.”
Interesting.
Initially, there was a leaked document that went over each team’s base color for their jerseys and it had the Flyers down as black. As the new video now mentions, it is more of a dark grey look — which might not be all that exciting.
Some fans have been clamoring for the Flyers to bring back the Simon Gagne-era black jerseys with all that nice orange piping so we can re-live some of that early-2000s fun we all had. But, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the Flyers are just going to be re-making that, and instead could go for an inspired twist on it with a dark grey look.
That’s all we have so far: The color. And, well, it’s boring.
Maybe one way that they can make it pop is bring back the 3D logo that was extremely polarizing among the fan base. It is a little bit of a “Reverse Retro” look, but if they want to put out a loud jersey like the Panthers are with the pink get-up they have, putting the 3D logo on a dark grey and orange sweater? It might get some, well, looks.
Maybe they go even further off the beaten path and don’t even include the color orange in this thing. The Panthers barely included their own team colors. The Islanders aren’t giving us anything from their current look. Heck, the Anaheim Ducks are going with green as their base color.
Give us something crazy. Something wild. Something that only the truly die-hard fans will end up buying and wear beyond next season.
