Flyers sign Andy Andreoff, Kurtis Gabriel, Nate Prosser, and JF Berube

The Flyers have signed three free agents to open up the 2019 NHL Free Agency period, and it’s all about depth. Forwards Andy Andreoff and Kurtis Gabriel combine with defenseman Nate Prosser for the Flyers’ first activity in free agency excluding the Kevin Hayes signing.

Andreoff has 24 career NHL points in 159 games and all of them have come with the Los Angeles Kings. Assuming he ends up in the AHL with the Phantoms, he should prove to be a solid addition for a Phantoms team that has lost a lot of talent over the past couple seasons. Andreoff scored 55 points in 75 games for the Syracuse Crunch last season, along with a hearty 150 penalty minutes.

To add into the “Broad Street Bully” theme that is apparently a thing with these signings, Chuck Fletcher also got Kurtis Gabriel who is most known for being … well let’s just call him a bit of a pest for the Flyers last season. There is some prior history between these two, as Fletcher is the one who drafted Gabriel to the Minnesota Wild back in 2013.

Another addition is another Minnesota connection in the form of defenseman Nate Prosser, who until this point, had spent his entire NHL career with the Wild. Prosser will be a nice addition for the Phantoms who desperately need help on defense, and worst case a decent option on the back end of the blue line if the injury bug hits hard.

Also, not mentioned in the tweet but the final addition so far, is goaltender J.F Berube. The 27 year old goalie played last season with Colorado’s AHL team the Cleveland Monsters and posted a .896 save percentage in 43 games. In his brief NHL career, he has a save percentage of .898.
