A guide to the 2024 CHL playoffs for Flyers fans

We’ve had quite a lot of excitement going around over these last few days, with the Flyers making some surprise moves to boost themselves heading into (hopefully) the playoffs, and the NCAA tournament getting underway for the prospect watchers, and still, somehow, we’re not done talking about playoffs yet.

The Flyers have a handful of prospects playing across the three CHL leagues up North, and their first round of playoff action will begin this evening, and we’re here with a breakdown of all of the information that you need to know.

The Flyers have six prospects representing them across five teams. Those are: Oliver Bonk and Denver Barkey (London, OHL), Matteo Mann (St. John, QMJHL), Alexis Gendron (Drummondville, QMJHL), Carter Sotheran (Portland, WHL), and Carson Bjarnason (Brandon, WHL).

A number of those prospects are being rewarded for their good work on the season on the team level, and will enter as top (or close to top) seeds. London and Drummondville both come into the playoffs as the top seed in their conference, while Portland comes in as the second seed. (Brandon is the six seed, and St. John is the eight in their respective conferences, we’ll also note for the sake of tidiness). So they’ll have some pretty favorable matchups to kick things off here — and for a bit of extra spice, we’ll actually see Drummondville and St. John facing off against each other in this first round.

But speaking of those matchups, let’s get into the schedules.

For now, the games will just be carried on the CHL’s streaming platform, so the local viewing options for us down here are limited. For now, we’ll make do with scoreboard watching from afar, watching eagerly to see if any of these kids can make it a real run for the Memorial Cup.
