Alex Lyon has his new Phantoms mask

Alex Lyon will probably be spending his first professional hockey season playing for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

After three impressive seasons at Yale, it was the Philadelphia Flyers who won the right to sign the 23-year-old free agent goaltender. Naturally, with a team change – especially considering how the Bulldogs’ colors are blue and white, and the Flyers are very much an orange and black kind of team – Lyon was definitely going to have to get a new lid.

And here it is!

It looks pretty sharp, paying homage to three teams: his old stomping grounds of Yale, his future hopeful ones in Philadelphia, and up front for most of the mask, a very great mostly black with orange highlights Phantoms motif for Lehigh Valley, complete with eyes and everything.

It looks fantastic. Here’s to Lyon having a great rookie pro season with it!
