Danny Briere has been General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers in some capacity for just over a year now, and in honor of that (and his first trade deadline), we’ve decided to take a look at three emerging tendencies when he gets a deal done.

For the purposes of this, we’ll consider the following trades: Wade Allison to Nashville for Denis Gurianov, the Erik Johnson acquisition for a 4th round pick, Noah Hanifin retention, Sean Walker to Colorado for a 1st and Ryan Johansen, Cutter Gauthier to Anaheim for Jamie Drysdale and a 2nd, and Ivan Provorov to Columbus for…well, a lot of stuff. The Flyers hadn’t made a deal with the Avalanche or the Flames since 2013: Maxime Talbot for Steve Downie with the Avs, and Mike Testwuide for Mitch Wahl with Calgary. Their last trade with the Ducks was in 2017: Dustin Tokarski for future considerations (very future, if you consider the Drysdale trade). Then, for the first time in Flyers history, they were involved with the expansion Vegas Golden Knights–even if it was just brokering salary retention.
