The Philadelphia Flyers announced that goaltender Brian Elliott under underwent successful core muscle surgery and is expected to miss 5-6 weeks.

With Elliott down, Michal Neuvirth will be heavily relied upon as the starting goaltender from here on out.
Alex Lyon will serve as the backup for now, but the Flyers may look to make a trade soon, and they have reportedly been in talks with the Buffalo Sabres according to Elliotte Friedman.
Elliott has a 21-11-7 record, a 2.72 goals against average, and a .908 save percentage in 41 appearances this season.
