Brian Elliott re-signs with the Flyers for 1 year, $2 million

This is probably the least controversial move the Flyers could have made this offseason, or at least the one people will have the fewest opinions on (lol). After deliberating between Cam Talbot and Brian Elliott as potential backups to Carter Hart, the Flyers ultimately decided to sign Elliott to an extremely boring, rational term. Sometimes it’s strange when the Flyers do something normal. It feels unnatural to have genuinely no reaction to this.

Coming off a season riddled with injury, Elliott has been signed for just one year, for a whopping total of $2 million. He is expected to play behind Carter Hart (our boy, beautiful baby boy) for the 2019-20 season, and from there we will see where the wind blows. Elliott played just 26 games last season and posted a .907% save percentage.

When he’s been healthy, Elliott has proven to be a perfectly fine goaltender, with the capability to steal games and all that—it’s just a matter of him being healthy. You know what it’s like when you get old. I don’t, but maybe you do. Stuff just hits different.

All in all, this is a pretty expected move, and not one that will come with much fanfare. Welcome back, dad. Don’t blow your hip out doing the splits.
