As you have probably heard already, the Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Ron Hextall was fired today. This is what the Broad Street Hockey slack chat looked like in the immediate aftermath.
It all began with the tweet confirming the news.
OFFICIAL: The Flyers organization has decided to relieve Ron Hextall of his duties as Executive Vice President and General Manager. https://t.co/W1tKRlqG5d pic.twitter.com/iiAvQlaZoH

Charlie: and there we go
Drew: do you think this means Hak will be gone soon too?
Kurt: WHOA. THAT’S WILD
Steph: WHAT
Kurt: F*CK I HAD A HAKSTOL PREWRITE. BUT NOT A HEXTALL ONE
Paul: OH. MY. GOSH. WOAHHAHHAHAHH
Jason: I…expected them both to go if they were ditching Hexy
Steph: ME TOO. I CAN’T STOP SCREAMING
Drew: #BringBackBarber
Steph: hoooooooly sh*t
Paul: This is … wow. Was not expecting this. Makes me think he refused to do anythingand was just gonna ride it out.
Kyle: HOLY SH*T
Steve: If f*cking Homer is the GM again I am going to lose my sh*t
Craig: You guys are forgetting Lombardi
Kyle: I wonder if this was Dave Scott telling Hextall to fire Hak and he refused resulting in this
Jason: I’ve had similar thoughts Kyle
Kyle: Especially the whole “differing philosophies” thing
Steph: I still have no words
Kelly: HOLY F*CK WHAT
Jake: FAM WHATS GOING ON
Steph: HEXTALL IS OUT
Kyle: WELCOME TO CHAOS FOLKS
Craig: There’s no way the coaching staff stays on right?
Kyle: I can’t see it
Craig: I’m not living in a Hextall-free world with f*cking Hakstol and Lappy
Maddie: Fam I have arisen from a nap and WHAT THE F*CK
Kyle: WELCOME MADDIE
Maddie: WAIT IT WAS ONLY RON
Kurt: so, any good lists out there for GM candidates?
Steve: brb getting you a list of flyers alumni, kurt
Kyle: Ilya Bryzgalov
Steve: you know what, kyle, let’s f*ckin do it
And that just about does it, this has been a wild and crazy day folks and I imagine it’s only going to get wilder over the next couple of days. The Ron Hextall era in Philadelphia is over, and it’s time for a new GM and most likely a new coach, to get this team over the hump.
