Flyers vs. Capitals line brawl: Watch the fight video here

Wayne Simmonds got things started last night, taking his frustration in the midst of a 7-0 drubbing out on a few Caps players. Tom Wilson rightfully took exception, and the two players settled it like adults, dropped the mitts and moved on.

It probably should’ve ended there, but for whatever reason, Ray Emery sprinted down the ice and basically attacked Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby.

“I said, basically, ‘protect yourself,” Emery said of his pre-fight conversation with Holtby. “He didn’t have much of a choice.”  That’s just pathetic. There’s something to be said for showing life, but you don’t jump a guy like that. You do it like Simmonds did.

The Emery fight turned into a line brawl, after which Vincent Lecavalier came away with an injury. Get the latest injury update here.
