Bret Hart was actually talking about Carter Hart when he coined that phrase. The Excellence of Execution was at it again on Monday night, stopping a cool 41 of 42 Vancouver Canucks shots en route to the Flyers eighth straight victory.
The Wells Fargo Center was rocking as the Franchise Savior made one clutch save after another, including all 18 Vancouver attempts in a busy third period, to earn his tenth career victory, and seventh in a row.
Sean Couturier (21) and Jakub Voracek (12) lit the lamp for the Flyers, while Brock Boeser scored Vancouver’s lone goal on Hart’s only misstep of the evening when he came out to play a loose puck only to pass it directly to Boeser, and last year’s runner-up for the Calder Trophy didn’t miss, potting his 18th of the year.
Nolan Patrick picked up his eight point of the winning streak with an assist on Couturier’s goal, Scott Laughton lead all forwards with nearly 21 minutes of ice time, Andrew MacDonald played the fewest minutes on the blue line and didn’t look half bad in the process, while Claude Giroux played in his 791st regular season game, passing Brian Propp for third in franchise history. The captain now only trails Hall of Famers Bill Barber (903) and Bobby Clarke (1144).
