Update, 1:24 p.m: Statement from Flyers Executive Vice President & General Manager, Chuck Fletcher:
“After meeting this morning with Dave Hakstol and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to relieve him of his duties as head coach. As I continue to assess the team, I feel that this is the best course of action for our group moving forward. I’d like to thank Dave for his service to the team and the organization. Scott Gordon will serve as head coach on an interim basis.”
Folks, It has happened. We were a little quick on the draw yesterday and things have been on fire since, but Dave Hakstol has been relieved of his coaching duties, a source confirmed to Broad Street Hockey. As of right now there is no replacement or interim coach — this situation is still developing, stay tuned for updates.
