144 – the number of regular-season games played between Sunday’s shootout loss to Boston and the last time the Flyers put at least 50 shots on goal up against their opponents.
Prior to Sunday, the Flyers most recently pulled off that feat in a 5-4 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets on February 21, 2012, in which they put an insane 55 shots on the other team’s net. The guy who stopped the Flyers from scoring 50 times that night was current Jets netminder Ondrej Pavelec. Of course, he did manage to allow five in, including a game-tying goal from Wayne Simmonds with 10 seconds left in regulation and a game-winner from Jaromir Jagr in OT.
On a related note, only five times this season has a team put more than 52 shots on goal in a single game. On another related note, 52 shots is by far the most the Bruins have allowed in a single game this year — their previous high was 44 in a 2-1 win over the Rangers on November 19.
