The Philadelphia Flyers are 2-for-2 since returning to action from the All-Star break, and those wins have come against a pair of the NHL\'s top clubs. Two days after beating the mighty Florida Panthers in Sunrise, the Flyers hosted the Winnipeg Jets at Wells Fargo Center Thursday night. The Flyers\' hot start helped them earn the 4-1 win on home ice as Sam Ersson impressed yet again to pick up his 14th win of the season. The Basics First period: 03:37 — Foerster (Poehling, Cates), 14:03 — Konecny (Frost, Walker), 18:06 — Frost (Tippett, Konecny) Second period: 02:29 — Poehling (unassisted) Third period: 14:48 — Connor (Scheifele, Morrissey) SOG: 29 (WPG), 20 (PHI) Takeaways Go off, short king Travis Konecny had himself a night. After a strong performance in Monday night\'s victory over the Panthers, the feisty forward followed it up with a goal, an assist and a fight (!) to complete the Gordie Howe hat trick, and it only took him one period to do it. Konecny registered his five-minute fighting major first, earning the decision over Neal Pionk after taking a violent shove from the Winnipeg blueliner in the Jets zone. Soon after being freed from the penalty box, Konecny doubled the Flyers lead by banking a loose puck into the net off the body of Pionk, who he had just clobbered minutes beforehand. He completed the Gordie Howe hatty by picking up a secondary assist on Morgan Frost\'s goal at the opening stanza\'s 18:06 mark. Konecny was held without a point in the Flyers\' final three games before the All-Star break, but he\'s looked recharged and refocused since his trip to Toronto with the NHL\'s elites (and Justin Bieber). https://twitter.com/BroadStHockey/status/1755752745619906688 The PK adds to its goal output The Flyers are once again tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals this season. Early in the second period, Ryan Poehling beat Jets goaltender Laurent Brossoit with a wrister on the rush just seven seconds into the first Winnipeg power play of the night. Poehling now has two shorthanded markers on the campaign. The Flyers have netted 11 shorties this season. The St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars are the only other teams to score as many goals while down a skater. https://twitter.com/BroadStHockey/status/1755761489191834068 Ersson stellar again In Tuesday night\'s contest against the Panthers, Sam Ersson staved off immense pressure early and willed the Flyers to a 2-1 victory. The script was flipped against the Jets Thursday night, but the result was the same. Ersson didn\'t see much action in the opening stanza, turning aside just four shots through the game\'s first 20 minutes while the Flyers wreaked havoc at the other end of the rink. The next two periods were a totally different story. Ersson faced 25 shots in the game\'s ensuing 40 minutes and stopped all but one of them. Kyle Connor netted the Jets\' only goal of the night with just 5:12 left in the third period, denying Ersson of his fourth shutout of the campaign. The 24-year-old Swede finished the night with 28 stops, including a big pad save on Josh Morrissey early in the tilt. https://twitter.com/ryanquigz/status/1755755466913677412 Konecny stole the show against Winnipeg, but Ersson was one heck of a costar.
