Flyers Draft LW Marcel Noebels in Fourth Round

The Flyers may have just gotten another steal in drafted Marcel Noebels. NHL’s Central Scouting listed Noebels as the 49th best North American skater entering the draft, and the Flyers just selected him 118th overall. He had a little trouble adjusting to the WHL, but after playing in the World Junior Championships, Noebels scored 18 goals in 34 WHL games.

in total, Noebels scored 28 goals and 26 assists in his 66-game debut in the WHL. It isn’t often that a guy will have more goal than assists, but Noebels pulled it off. More than that, Noebels has been impressive at every level he’s played.

Noebels has size (either 6’2″ or 6″3″ depending on the source) on his side, as well as some smarts. Here’s NHL Central Scouting‘s assessment:

“Noebels has adjusted pretty well, and he’s positioning himself better in the second half of the season. He’s got nice size and awareness, displays playmaking capabilities, I like the way he thinks, but he must improve his foot speed.”

Also proving he has smarts? His “favorite websites” are NHL.com and WHL.ca. Oh, and his favorite goal celebration is “the Briere”.
