Flyers fan throws jersey on the ice as the Canadiens dominate

via TSN

The Philadelphia Flyers visited the Montreal Canadiens up north on Tuesday night and was treated to an absolute beatdown. A loss so bad that it caused one Quebec-based Flyers fan decided to throw their jersey to the ice, giving up what the certainly came to the game wearing. A sacrifice to the cruel hockey gods during a miserable time to care about this team.

All we got a glimpse of was on the TSN broadcast, the jersey all crumpled on the ice as a linesman came by to take it away from its chilly existence.

Of course, what caused this was just pure affliction. The Canadiens scored their eighth goal of the game in the third period, and was holding an 8-1 lead over the Flyers. Eight to one. In a game where the Flyers needed the full two points to keep their playoff dreams alive with just four games remaining, and now, they just completely got shelled to oblivion in the crucial hour of hockey.

More than any other normal blowout loss, this is stinging to an unbelievable level. We were treated with promise that the Flyers could be a different team this year and be exciting and be the cool new team in the first round of the playoffs, where just their mere presence in the postseason is gravy. But the game where they could keep themselves in the race, was just tossed aside, just like the sweater.

The poor mess of orange and black and white just simply laid there, after being abandoned in an act of disgust from a visiting fan in the opposing team’s building. Imagine the gall to be that fan, in an arena full of people having a fantastic time, witnessing their favorite team crush the hopes and dreams of a team that might get to taste the real playoffs for the first time in quite a long time; to then take your jersey off your head and throw it to the other team’s ice.

It just rocks. Peak fandom to show thousands of people who like the other team, that, don’t worry, I am upset.

There are three more games left for the Flyers, so how many more jerseys will we see? Will we witness an orange and black rainstorm during the final home game of the season next Tuesday?
