In most recent years — every non-lockout offseason between 2007 and 2014, in fact — the Flyers have capped off their annual rookie camp with a prospect game against the Washington Capitals’ prospects. The teams didn’t get a game on the schedule last summer, though, and with the World Cup of Hockey in place it wasn’t clear if the teams would manage to get the game back in place again this fall.
Now, though, we’ve learned that the Flyers won’t be playing the Capitals because they’ll be playing a game against the Islanders.
#Flyers and @NYIslanders rookies will face off in a prospect game on 9/21 at @NHIceCenter. Details → https://t.co/Uygz6GFGtP

The game will take place at Northwell Health Ice Center, which is just a couple of miles away from the Islanders’ old stomping grounds at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.
While specific dates and times for rookie camp have not yet been released, the Flyers’ press release for the event mentions that the game “marks the unofficial end to Rookie Camp”. So we can reasonably conclude that camp will start a few days before that date. While we don’t have the exact rosters yet, the game should feature a number of exciting Flyers prospects, as well as those from a pretty solid Islanders farm system.
Tickets for the game can be purchased here, via the Islanders. Tickets “cost” $20, but all ticket costs will go straight to the Islanders Children’s Foundation.
