Flyers’ Travis Konecny out of commission with ‘minor’ injury

The Philadelphia Flyers will be missing arguably their top player in Saturday’s matinee tilt against the New York Rangers at Wells Fargo Center, and possibly beyond.

The Flyers announced before puck drop that Konecny is considered day-to-day with a “minor” upper-body injury. Konecny is suspected to have suffered the injury during Friday’s practice.

The Flyers were already considered underdogs against the Rangers even with Konecny in the lineup. Without him, they’ll be forced to lean even more on their depth scorers to generate offense.

Konecny currently leads the Flyers in goals (27) and points (54) while serving as a jack-of-all-trades weapon on both the power play and penalty kill. He was the only Flyer voted to appear at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.

The Flyers travel to Western Pennsylvania to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena Sunday afternoon. Currently, Konecny’s status for that game is unclear.
