Flyers unveil 2024 Stadium Series jerseys, and they’re … fine?

The Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils are taking things outdoors in a few weeks. The Metropolitan Division Rivals will face off at Metlife Stadium on Saturday, February 17th, which is just a few weeks away.

On Friday, the NHL finally revealed the 2024 Stadium Series jerseys for the Flyers and Devils, along with the New York Rangers and New York Islanders, who will also be playing at Metlife that weekend.

The jersey features the Flyers’ classic orange and white with a black accent.

Let’s take a closer look.

The Flyers’ Stadium Series jerseys have a white base with orange and black striping on the arms. The large orange numbers on the shoulders are interesting, but perhaps those are designed with the further sightlines of the outdoor game at a football stadium in mind.

The back of the jersey is a bit interesting. The black stripe on the sleeve is a product of the black nameplate continuing throughout the jersey, which is a nice touch.

The orange numbers on the back do look a bit bland and might be improved with some black piping along the outside.

The larger logo and number on the helmet as shown in the Flyers’ tweet adds an element as well.

Overall, these jerseys seem … fine? Of course, there are going to be people on both sides of the fence here with fans already voicing their displeasure with the new threads. However, there are people on the other side as well who can’t wait to get their hands on one of these — which might be tough given Fanatics’ shipping schedule.

The 2024 Stadium Series will be the Flyers’ sixth outdoor game and their first against the New Jersey Devils. The Flyers at least have the upper hand in the jersey department in this matchup with the Devils’ Stadium Series threads leaving much to be desired.

But at least they aren’t the ISLES jerseys.

While it’s hard to top the 2012 Winter Classic Jersey, which essentially became an alternate in future years, these are solidly in the middle of the pack among recent specialty Flyers jerseys.

Of course, I’m sure these jerseys will grow on a lot of people if the Flyers take down the Devils on a cold Saturday night in February.
