Friday Morning Fly By: No, you cannot relax

Today’s open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes…

*The Flyers needed to win last night and they won. It was stressful and messy and harder than it needed to be, but they won. They won. The useless Bruins, however, did not. So with Florida getting two points last night we can’t yet put that little “x” next to all of our names. Tomorrow will be a big day. RECAP!

*Every now and again, someone brings up the fact that Sean Couturier ought to be considered for the Selke. Seems to happen every year among Flyers fans, really. But this isn’t a case of us being homers. Sean Couturier, quite legitimately, should win the Selke this year. And Charlie will tell you why. [The Athletic]

*Okay so we know who actually won, but you’ll still want to read who we picked for the Hart and Dupre awards. Some very interesting picks from the BSH folks. [BSH]

*And also the team MVP award! Results here were slightly less...varied. [BSH]

*No Flyers-specific stuff in this week’s 31 Thoughts but there IS a mention of former Flyers legend Gino Odjick. Whatever you were going to read it anyway. [Sportsnet]

*So is this the year the Washington Capitals finally break their playoff curse? Probably not, but maybe! [Vice Sports]

*Ahh yes, another list of coaches that will likely lose their jobs this summer that does not contain a single mention of Dave Hakstol. Because he’s never getting fired. [ProHockeyTalk]

*And finally, cruise into the final weekend of the NHL season with a brand new episode of Flyperbole. [BSH]
