Who doesn’t love a .500 weekend?

Saturday’s game started out poorly, with the Flyers falling behind the suddenly cold Buffalo Sabres 2-0 in the game’s first twelve minutes thanks to a pair of goals from Steph Driver’s favorite American ice hockey player, Jack Eichel.

But the orange and came back with six unanswered goals on the strength of a four point afternoon from captain Claude Giroux (including a short-handed snipe) in his return to the center-ice position. Listen to the postgame reaction from one of the team’s better performances of the season.

Oh, and Anthony Stolarz continues to look like the man.

Sunday’s tilt in Winnipeg did not go nearly as well. Michal Neuvirth got his second start of the year and lasted 27:31 before being pulled in favor of Stolarz. Neuvy allowed three goals on ten shots.

The team sagged after the change and the Jets took over from there, taking a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.

Playing in the back end of back-to-backs and their third game in four nights, Philly didn’t do much to reverse their fate in the third, ultimately dropping the game by a final score of 7-1.
