Maybe they’re just saving their energy for the Stadium Series

If nothing else, Carter Hart should be well rested for Saturday’s Stadium Series game.

The 20-year-old phenom was less than stellar, allowing three goals on nine shots and getting pulled halfway through the first period for the second consecutive game.

The players in front of him were even worse, allowing the Montreal Canadiens to gain speed breaking out of their zone, storm through the neutral zone and approach the net unimpeded.

Claude Giroux finished without a point for the fourth game in a row and the ninth time in 14 games. Jakub Voracek went without a goal or assist for the third straight game. Wayne Simmonds extended his goalless streak to nine games and has just one goal in his last 15 contests. James van Riemsdyk pushed his own scoring drought to four games, and has only two goals (both on Feb. 12 @ Minnesota) in his last 12 games. Once again the Philadelphia Flyers’ best players weren’t effective, and tonight Sean Couturier joined that group. Couturier saw his streak of two-point games snapped after four straight- he registered no points and no shots on goal.

With only one game before Monday’s trade deadline, the hope is Chuck Fletcher wasn’t fooled by a streak fueled by great goaltending and makes the necessary changes that allow the Flyers to take the step forward in 2019-20 that we were promised by the previous regime heading into this season.

Now, listen to the postgame show. It’s way better than that game was. This I promise you.
