If each Philadelphia Flyers player had their own goal song

The San Jose Sharks are now allowing their players to choose their own goal songs. This is really fun way to get players to show off their personalities, and the Philadelphia Flyers wouldn’t be in the wrong for following the Sharks’ lead.

Will the Flyers actually allow something like this? Probably not! But we’re prepared anyway.

Below is a complete list of the songs each Flyers player should use as their goal song. If you have any suggestions, sound off in the comments.

Justin Braun: “It’s Been Awhile” by Staind

Justin Braun doesn’t score very often, so this would make a ton of sense as his goal song. He’s not naive. He knows what’s up.

Sean Couturier: “Whoomp! (There It Is)” by Tag Team

This song would be a great goal song for anyone, but it would work particularly well for Sean Couturier if someone edited the lyrics to make it “Coots! There it is” instead. It would be incredible. Everyone in the arena would be losing their minds.

Joel Farabee: “Opposite of Adults” by Chiddy Bang

Joel Farabee is the youngest player on the team at 19 years old. He’s still just a kid, so this jam from Philly-based rapper Chiddy Bang would be (chef’s kiss) perfection.

Morgan Frost: “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel

Morgan Frost? The song from Frozen? It’s a perfect match, folks.

Claude Giroux: “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” by John Denver

Claude Giroux just can’t get enough John Denver. It’s a known fact. Giroux even chose “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” as his karaoke song at McGillin’s back in 2013. There’s really no other option here. You better start bringing your cowboy hat to Flyers games. Because if the captain scores? Buddy, we’re square dancing.

Shayne Gostisbehere: Ghostbusters Theme

This is perhaps the easiest entry on the list. Ghost? Ghostbusters? There’s no doubt that Shayne Gostisbehere would make the right decision.

Robert Hagg: Curb Your Enthusiasm Theme

Robert Hagg doesn’t score a lot, so when he does find the back of the net, other teams need to know that they’ve screwed up royally.

Kevin Hayes: “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne

As you may or may not know, Kevin Hayes is a big fan of the New England Patriots. What better song to celebrate a goal with than “Crazy Train,” which, as you might recall, was the song the Patriots ran out the tunnel to in a certain football game not all that long ago.

The Patriots lost that game 41-33. To the Eagles. And then the Eagles got a trophy and a bunch of rings for it. The Patriots didn’t.

Travis Konecny: “Lexicon Devil” by Germs

Travis Konecny doesn’t strike me as much of a punk rocker. In fact, he’s quite a big fan of country music. Still, this song seems like a perfect fit for the Flyers’ pot-stirrer. Konecny takes no funny business from anyone, and he’s not shy about getting under other players’ skin. TK is a rebel by nature, so this would be an appropriate choice.

Disclaimer! This song would also be an excellent fit for The Germ himself, German Rubtsov, but he currently is not on the Flyers’ active roster.

Scott Laughton: “Raining Blood” by Slayer

We all love Scott Laughton. He’s turned out to be a heck of a player for the Flyers. But he also looks like he’s killed several families. I’m not accusing him of anything, but I certainly wouldn’t want to run into Scott Laughton in a back alley. “Raining Blood” feels like something Laughton would pick out.

Matt Niskanen: Full House Theme

Matt Niskanen’s goal song seems like an easy choice. He’s the dad in the Flyers’ locker room — the resident Danny Tanner, if you will. Might as well stick to your brand and pick the song that best reflects your character.

Nolan Patrick: “Boyz-n-the-Hood” by Eazy E

Nolan Patrickisn’t much of a music guy,” but does seem to enjoy the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton. That being the case, it’s impossible not to pick “Boyz-n-the-Hood” for Patty. It’s exactly what you wouldn’t expect, which would make it perfect.

Tyler Pitlick: “All Star” by Smash Mouth

Someone on the team needs to have “All Star” as their goal song. I don’t care who it is, but Tyler Pitlick seems like a solid candidate, for no reason other than the fact that I have no idea what kind of song he’d actually pick.

Ivan Provorov: “Rasputin” by Boney M.

Ivan Provorov is the token Russian on the Flyers’ active roster, so by law his goal song must be “Rasputin” by Boney M. I don’t make the rules, I just enforce them.

Michael Raffl: “Sandstorm” by Darude

I have not the slightest idea what Michael Raffl’s music taste is like, so I’m assigning him “Sandstorm” by default.

Travis Sanheim: “Little Maggie” by Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder

Travis Sanheim’s a country boy from the middle of nowhere in Manitoba. He loves country music, so perhaps he’d opt to pick out some bluegrass for his goal song.

James van Riemsdyk: “Pony” by Ginuwine

What in the world is sexier than a greasy netfront goal from James van Riemsdyk? I can answer that — nothing. Absolutely zero things. Gets me sweaty just thinking about it. “Pony” for JVR. No questions asked.

Jakub Voracek: “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen

This is an easy one. Jakub Voracek is a noted fan of Uncle Bruce, as evidenced by the must-see footage of Voracek and Radko Gudas drunkenly singing along to The Boss’s 1975 hit at MetLife Stadium.
