Claude Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere are best friends. I am more than comfortable in declaring this now. And there’s no better day than to declare it on than on June 8, National Best Friends Day!
Who knew a French Canadian from middle-of-nowhere, Ontario would one day become best buddies with a kid from Florida? That’s just the magic of hockey: bringing together the unlikeliest of friends.
It probably all started when both found themselves being two of the better players on the Philadelphia Flyers, but it only grew from there. With the hockey season over, what better way to celebrate your friendship than by getting matching surgeries?
But what to do with an off-season of rehabilitation ahead of you? Well, the answer appears to be very simple: continue to hang out, because you’re best friends now (and probably restricted to the same activities, while we’re at it).
Country music? They’re hockey players, so you bet.
