Kimmo Timonen gives first interview since retirement: ‘Flyers are my team’

Kimmo Timonen sat down with CSN’s John Clark for his first interview with local media since winning the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks last week. And damnit, man. Why you gotta keep doing this to us?

First, the news: Timonen says he met with Ron Hextall and was offered a job in the organization, but that he’s not quite ready to take it just yet. He will eventually, but not yet. You know, he wants a little bit of time off and all.

Now, OK — the interview. Grab the tissues and the prepare to smile. Then watch below:

Flyers has a special place in my heart, and I — hopefully we can do this. I’d like to be part of it some day. Flyers are my team. This place has something amazing. The parade we had Thursday in Chicago; that’s something every player should see and experience. It’s unbelievable.

So I can only picture if that happens here. It would get so crazy.”
