The Flyers are in Pittsburgh tonight to take on the Penguins outside at Heinz Field, and next year, the farm club will have a similar opportunity.
The Hershey Bears announced on Saturday night that, as part of their 80th anniversary season, they will host the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in an outdoor game at Hersheypark Stadium on Sunday, January 20, 2018.
It’ll be the second outdoor game for the Phantoms. In 2012 as part of the NHL Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park, the then-Adirondack Phantoms hosted the Bears in an outdoor game. The Phantoms won, 4-3, in overtime.
This will be the second outdoor game at Hersheypark Stadium. In 2013, the Bears lost to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in front of 17,311 fans.
