Monday Morning Fly By: Could’ve been better, could’ve been worse

* Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Flyers did not win both games in the “must-win” weekend, taking a hit on Friday night in Washington before getting a very needed bounce-back win on Saturday night back home against Ottawa. Here you go, if you wanted to read about the loss and the win.

* The star of Saturday’s win? Tyson Foerster, who turned the game on its head with two goals in less than a minute, and who might just be putting it all together: [BSH]

* More on the excellent run that Foerster is on: [ALL PHLY]

* Foerster had a more exciting weekend than a pair of his fellow rookie wingers, who got benched on Friday night in Washington after a particularly bad defensive shift: [BSH]

* Very nice of the Inquirer to write on Saturday about Joel Farabee persevering through his goal drought, which he then ended a few hours later by scoring about a minute into the game: [Inquirer]

* The Flyers also made some news on Sunday, signing 2023 third-round pick Denver Barkey to an entry-level contract in the midst of an excellent season in London: [BSH]

* On the weekend before the trade deadline, the biggest news may have been a guy who didn’t change teams, as Elias Pettersson reached an agreement with Vancouver on an eight-year contract: [TSN]

* Pure speculation from Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek, who wonders if Dallas may be a fit for Nick Seeler even after their trade for Chris Tanev: [Sportsnet]

* Every NHL team’s best trade deadline move of the past decade: [The Athletic]
