*We’ve been complaining about August being boring and droning on and on and somehow, the end of the month is here. It came up quick, eh? Anyhoo, the big news before the weekend was our old pal Jay O’Brien signing with the Toronto Marlies. [Inquirer]

*Here’s what the Toronto media had to say about this (spoiler alert: not much). [TSN]

*Number 19 on our 25U25 was another NCAA kid improving his college game nicely. [BSH]

*We haven’t heard him mentioned much lately after a bit of a lackluster season in the AHL coming off injury, but Bobby Brink is still on the radar of folks in the hockey media as a guy to keep an eye on. [The Athletic]

*Looks like the Ottawa Senators finally, officially, have a new owner. Which apparently hadn’t happened yet. [TSN]

*And finally, this is just the best kind of story: a local guy working to improve the Philadelphia community through the hockey, the greatest sport in the world. You love to see this stuff. [NBC Sports Philly]
