Monday Morning Fly By: The Novemberists

*When we closed out October, November’s packed schedule seemed daunting, overwhelming. Well, the boys made it through and as we enter December they’re the hottest team in the NHL and they’ve got something to prove. [Inquirer]

*This past weekend was a fun bit of hockey, with the Flyers beating up on the Red Wings on Black Friday and then winning a thriller in overtime against Montreal.

*The Flyers earned more points in November than any other team in the league, and there were quite a few things that led to that level of success. [Flyers]

*And it case it isn’t already clear just how good last month was, the Flyers enter November with the most points since Eric Lindros was captain of this hockey team. That’s wild. [NBC Sports Philly]

*It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, though. Shayne Gostisbehere found himself healthy scratched for three straight games last week, and the time off gave him some time to reflect. Which, given his performance thus far, seems to have worked. [Courier-Post]

*Too early to say that Chuck Fletcher and Alain Vigneault have turned things around? It seems like they’ve turned things around. [NBC Sports Philly]

*One of the highlight’s from this past weekend’s action was the play of Matt Niskanen, who has quickly proved to be a hell of an addition to the blueline. [Inquirer]

*Remember how a lot of us wanted the Flyers to take noted Small Goal Scorer Cole Caufield in the draft? They didn’t, of course, but they got their own small goal boy, and he’s doing pretty well. [Courier-Post]

*The Devils are shopping Taylor Hall. Did you hear they won the offseason? Remember how mad some Flyers fans were because they got so much better while the Flyers did dumb stuff like trade for old man Niskanen? Huh. [TSN]

*And finally, we may only be two days into December, but it’s never too early for a nice little Christmas wish list, right? [Inquirer]
