Flyers issue qualifying offers to four players

Who doesn’t love a bit of afternoon news? The Flyers have dropped a bit more on us, it seems, with the qualifying offers news coming in just a bit ago. We don’t know the details of the offers yet, or how the negotiations will go, but here’s a bit of what we do know.

Who’s staying?

So we’ve got four players who have received qualifying offers! You can probably guess who they are, but here’s handy little list for you anyway.

(F) Nicolas Aube-Kubel

(F) Travis Konecny

(F) Scott Laughton

(D) Ivan Provorov

These are guys we expected back anyway, but because of today’s deadline, the qualifying offers had to be submitted. We’ll likely seeing at least some of their real contracts solidified in the relatively near future. Not too much going on here, no players who we expected to be gone that the team decided to hang on to. Good talk.

Who’s on the way out?

The Flyers, then, have decided not to issue qualifying offers to the following players:

(F) Justin Bailey

(D) Jacob Graves.

And this really isn’t all that surprising. Graves came to Philly in the deal that sent Jordan  Weal to Arizona and played a handful of games in Reading, and didn’t really figure into the team’s future. Bailey was the return from Buffalo/Rochester when Taylor Leier was traded away, and while he spent some time with the Flyers, it seems that they didn’t view him as more than an AHL player, and they simply have too many other players set to join the Phantoms this season. So away he goes.

So, welcome back old pals, so long newer pals. We’ll keep tabs on how those contract situations come along with the players who are staying. Stay tuned.
