The Flyers aren’t sitting back and accepting an early season slide, they’re making moves baby.
The long awaited recall of Joel Farabee has taken place, and Mikhail Vorobyev will be joining him up with the Flyers as Carsen Twarynski was loaned to the Phantoms.

With the Flyers struggling to score in the early going, and Farabee lighting up the AHL to the tune of three goals and one assist in four games, it’s no surprise to see him get the call. It’s not like the four game sample was enough, either, as Farabee impressed throughout camp and in the preseason but was caught up in a numbers game to start the season as the Flyers tip toed around their cap situation. The 19-year-old should bring some skill and creativity to the lineup, something that Twarynski certainly did not.
Twarynski heads back down after making the club out of camp, but notching just one goal in six games while playing around 10 minutes a game for Alain Vigneault. The 21-year-old is certainly on the radar, but could get buried in the AHL if Farabee and/or Vorobyev impresses the coaching staff. There’s also that Morgan Frost guy, too, so Twarynski would benefit from making a much stronger impression next time he sees himself up with the Flyers.
As for Vorobyev, he gets another chance to prove he’s a NHL player, and is perhaps running out of chances. The 22-year-old has four points in five games for the Phantoms this season and has been quality at the AHL level, but looked lost after making the big club out of training camp last season. He was recalled late last season, but saw his ice time well down past the 10-minute mark as he failed to impress in that stretch as well. He has a goal and an assist in 15 NHL games, all coming last season.
The Flyers (2-3-1, five points) tangle with the Golden Knights (6-3-0, 12 points) on Monday at Wells Fargo Center for a 7pm puck drop on NHL Network, giving the national audience a chance to see Farabee make his NHL debut.
