It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of a player, but when it comes to Shayne Gostisbehere, it’s completely deserved.
He’s had a rookie season for the ages, as much of the video the Philadelphia Flyers put together reminds us. He finished top five in rookie scoring: as a defenseman. He had that historic point streak: one that not only set records both for the Flyers and through the entire NHL, but one that helped get the Flyers back into the playoff conversation.
The Flyers have a lot of hope coming up on the blueline, but it all really took off with Gostisbehere’s first season. Remember when he didn’t even make the team out of training camp? That was so long ago, and it feels unthinkable that it went down that way now.
And thanks to Pavel Padakin, we can really look back on just how far he’s come!
