NHL FanPulse: Flyers fans want to buy!

The NHL trade deadline is a mere 12 days away, and already we have seen teams be aggressive and make moves. Division rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, made a big splash when they traded for Jason Zucker of the Minnesota Wild, giving up Alex Galchenyuk, defense prospect Calen Addison, and a 2020 first round pick. That’s a big move that will almost certainly make the race for those top three spots in the Metropolitan Division very interesting. However, do Flyers fans see the team coming into the fold and making a move?

The answer is a resounding yes!

In all honesty, I did not expect such a resounding margin of confidence in this vote. It essentially amounts to nine out of ten people thinking that the Flyers are in such a good position as to merit making an addition that could end up being either a rental or a short-term move.

It was certainly interesting, almost refreshing, to see such a level of confidence in the fanbase. While the Flyers options at the deadline are somewhat limited, and have vastly different needs from those of the Penguins, the fact that so many voters are convinced of their need/want to buy is invigorating.

What moves (if any) could the Flyers make at the trade deadline?

Even though this team is by no means perfect, I think I share a similar opinion with many of our readers out there that they have made significant changes to both their process and mentality which have us excited for what the team could do once the depth of young players gain experience. Adding another name (likely a forward) into the fray would only help with this. Whether or not this addition comes from a trade, as fans desire, or from an internal source (ahem…Nolan Patrick maybe?) is yet to be seen. However, regardless of outcome, this team has been the first in many moons to inspire such confidence in the fanbase, which in of itself is exciting.
