Today the Philadelphia Flyers have extended defenseman Robert Hagg to a two year contract with a $1.6 million AAV.
Now you’re gonna get a new deal, Bobby! https://t.co/K7VX6oi6xx

Hagg will be entering his fourth season with the orange and black, and does so coming off arguably his best season as a Flyer. For the majority of the season, Hagg was a solid bottom pairing guy who did his job defensively. He’s never going to wow you, or make any highlight reels, but Hagg was effective this year despite coming in and out of the lineup.
He played in 49 games last season putting up 13 points while averaging 15:36 time on ice. Hagg saw his role increase as the Flyers down the stretch of the regular season before the shutdown, and played in 12 playoff games.
Another aspect that most likely played a role in Hagg’s new deal is how much his teammates seem to love him. We all know about his relationship with Oskar Lindblom, but I think it would be hard pressed to find a player in that locker room who had a bad thing to say about Hagg.
At the end of the day, it’s a cheap deal for a sixth or seventh defenseman who has proven he can be a solid option.
