Flyers to be featured on NHL Network’s “Behind The Glass”

Do you just love Flyers training camp? Do you wish you could get a deeper look at what goes on, both on and off the ice, during it? For the purpose of this article, we’re going to pretend that everybody’s answer was a resounding yes, which means you’re in luck! More content is coming your way.

The Flyers are teaming up with the NHL and NHL Network to be part of their television special “Behind The Glass,” which gives fans, you guessed it, a behind the scenes look at how the Flyers are conducting their training camp. It’s the Flyers on your tv but not in the usual way. It’s bonus content, folks!

What exactly will we be seeing? I’m glad you asked. A sampling of some of that behind the scenes stuff is as follows, per the league’s release:

Throughout the series, Behind The Glass will shadow Flyers president of hockey operations & general manager Chuck Fletcher and new head coach Alain Vigneault for behind-the-scenes insight into their evaluations on the more than 50 players competing for 23 roster spots.

Behind The Glass will also spend a training session as part of a ‘day in the life’ with defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, who calls Philadelphia his home during the offseason. The show will also profile newly acquired forward Kevin Hayes as he begins his first season with the Flyers and feature 21-year old goalie Carter Hart, following his dynamic rookie season and his first training camp as the team’s number-one goaltender.

NHL Network’s cameras will travel with the Flyers to the Czech Republic, following winger and Czech native Jakub Voracek as he prepares for the team’s season-opening game in his home country against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 4 as part of the 2019 NHL Global Series

And, beyond that, there’s the piece that many of us are extra eager to see—a deeper look into the battles for the open forward spots, and which prospects might be ready to make the jump to join the big club. With Tyler Pitlick set to miss training camp while rehabbing from wrist surgery, things are certainly opening up, so it will be interesting to have an extra glimpse at how those battles are shaking out.
