Bobby Clarke gave a tribute to his former coach, Fred Shero, as he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday evening in Toronto. It was a candid, funny and meaningful look at the coach who innovated hockey in the 1960s and 70s and brought two Stanley Cups to Philadelphia.
Fred’s son, current Penguins general manager Ray Shero, stepped to the podium after to accept the induction on behalf of his father. Shero shared several stories, including how his father visited Russia to learn from the Soviets after the Flyers won their first Cup in 1974. He also thanked and recognized a large group of Flyers who were on hand in Toronto for the ceremony.
