NHL Draft 2013: Philadelphia Flyers select Samuel Morin with 11th overall pick

NEWARK — With the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, the Flyers have indeed gone with a defenseman. Samuel Morin, a 6’6, 200 pounder from Rimouski of the QMJHL, is the newest member of the Philadelphia Flyers.

We’re going downstairs to talk to Morin, but the basic scouting report for now: He’s mobile for a big guy and was a bit lower than some of the other defensemen on the board — Nikita Zadorov and Ryan Pulock, namely — according to most rankings, but he has a ton of upside. He can play a sound two-way game but it seems like there’s still a lot of growth in Morin’s future. He’s very raw and is not close to being NHL ready just yet.

More to come, but discuss the pick below for now.
