Samuel Morin loaned to Phantoms on conditioning stint

In a somewhat surprising development, the timetable for when Samuel Morin would return was actually right! The Flyers 2013 first round pick was loaned on a conditioning stint today to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Morin has been out since May of last season after he tore his ACL in a five overtime game vs. Charlotte in the AHL playoffs last season.

Morin’s trajectory since then has stayed the same, with his return slated for mid February. Well, here we are on February 14, and Morin will be back to playing hockey very shortly. Morin only played 17 total games of professional hockey last season, two with the Flyers early in the year, and 15 with the Phantoms. He was plagued by injury issues last season as well before the torn ACL, in a truly bad luck season.

With Phil Myers having received his call-up just five days ago, Morin will hope to impress new General Manager Chuck Fletcher quick and often. Fletcher’s stance has not changed in the fact that the Flyers could still sell at the deadline, even with the team’s recent success, and early success from Morin could complicate matters even further. Regardless of all of that, Morin has had a lot of bad luck thrown his way, and at this point I think we all just want to see what he has at the NHL level. Let’s hope this is a brief conditioning stint, and we see him in a Flyers jersey very soon.
