Scott Laughton injured in Game 4, carted off ice in stretcher after scary collision

Flyers forward Scott Laughton took a hit from Capitals defenseman John Carlson with 3:49 remaining the first period of Game 4 on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center, and the immediate aftermath of the injury is one of the scariest we can recall in recent memory.

Laughton seemed to fly into the end boards with his back or the back of his head making the hardest contact, and he laid motionless on the ice for several minutes before a stretcher came out to take him off. He appeared conscious as he was removed from the ice.

The Flyers announced that Laughton was taken to Jefferson Hospital for precautionary reasons. Let’s hope the emphasis there is on the word precaution.
