Sean Couturier is getting a street named after him in his hometown of Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada.
The Flyers forward is a minority owner of the QMJHL’s Acadie-Bathurst Titan, and the street leading to the team’s home arena will be named after him. You can catch Titan games at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre down on l’avenue Sean Couturier from now on.
Couturier is just one of 28 or so investors who invested a total of $3 million into the team back in 2013, saving the team from relocation. Among those joining him in that effort were Roberto Luongo, Patrice Bergeron, Bruno Gervais and Mathieu Perreault, all of whom played their junior hockey for the club.
Couturier did not play for the Titan, instead playing his QMJHL hockey in Drummondville. But his father Sylvain is the general manager of the team, which is actually the reason Sean ended up growing up in Bathurst in the first place after being in Phoenix, Ariz. during Sylvain’s playing days.
Now, the native son has a street in his honor. The ceremony will take place on July 23.
