Shayne Gostisbehere injury update: Ghost skates, won’t confirm status for next game

Shayne Gostisbehere skated at the Flyers Skate Zone this morning, which is a weird sentence because that’s what you do at the Skate Zone, obviously. But he didn’t take part in full practice with his teammates, instead just whirling around with assistance coach Ian Laperriere for 20 minutes or so before dipping off.

Afterwards, Ghost spoke to the assembled media there in Voorhees, and he was non-committal on his status for the Flyers next game, Wednesday against Boston.

“I’m fine, it’s day-to-day,” Ghost says. “It was good to get on the ice today. … We still have a couple of days until [Wednesday], so I’m sure we’ll learn more as time comes.”

Everybody seems to assume this was a knee injury, so it was a little funny watching him dodge that question and revert back to calling it a “lower-body injury,” especially with the team’s PR staff standing over his left shoulder.

Question: It looked like you got tangled up with Koivu, knee-to-knee, but you tried to come back. Was it not feeling that bad and is that why you tried to come back in the second period, or …?

Ghost: I went out and I just didn’t want to hurt it more, so I just, uh … you know, it’s a lower body injury and I just didn’t want to hurt it more. [chuckles]

We’ll wait and see if Ghost is back in for practice on Tuesday morning.
