The Two O’Clock Number

79 — the number of inches new Flyers goaltender Niko Hovinen stands tall. If he makes it to the NHL, even for just a game, he’ll be the the tallest goalie to ever play in the NHL — tied with 6’7″ Ben Bishop, who played this past year with St. Louis.

From what I can tell, he’ll also be the tallest goaltender to ever play in the ECHL or AHL, should he play in those leagues this coming season. Steve Valiquette and Devan Dubnyk hold that mark in the ECHL at 6’6″. Bishop holds the AHL mark.
