Thursday Morning Fly By: Waiting on the Flyers to Do Something

*Former Flyer Nick Boyton shares his personal story about the lasting affects he’s suffered with after an NHL hockey career. It’s not easy to read. But it’s important to read, I think. And we can be proud of the way the Flyers responded to Nick’s illness. [The Players’ Tribune]

*But we’re also talking (maybe) future Flyers around here. Our BSH Community Draft Board rolls on to number 18: Isaac Lundestrom. [BSH]

*Another name we’ve tossed around as someone the Flyers might pick at 14 is Rasmus Kupari. Let’s talk a little more about him. [NBCSP]

*And we’re not the only ones talking about the draft. You know who else is? That’s right, the Flyers. [Flyers]

*But let’s shift gears. The Flyers have a lot of present and potential future goalies, and not a whole lot of space. What should they do about that? [NBCSP]

*Are you an Athletic subscriber? Are you wondering what the Flyers should do about Wayne Simmonds? Our pal Charlie may have some answers, or at least some options, for you. [The Athletic]

*Oh, hey, this sounds relevant to our interests. How often are top-10 draft picks traded in June? [Sportsnet]

*So, it looks like Ilya Kovalchuk’s coming back. Who wants him? And what are they getting? [ESPN]

*In our gnarliest piece of news of the day: apparently Brooks Orpik lost the tip of his finger after a slash in the Cup Final and had to have it reattached. [Sportsnet]

*And, finally, we’re still talking post-Stanley Cup benders. The Caps just had a good one, but let’s compare. [Vice]
