Thursday Morning Fly By: That’s more like it!

*The Flyers won a hockey game and things are good again! But man, you play a team as bad as the Senators and things get weird. Multi-point night for Dale Weise. Robert Hagg scores a goal. Jori Lehtera is the second line center. Weird, wild stuff. And now we’re probably stuck with all of it. RECAP!

*Not all good news, though. Nolan Patrick left the game in the first with an upper body injury. There’s no link just yet but trust me it happened.

*And there’s another Senators game worth looking back on. You know which one I mean. [BSH]

*The home opener was garbage, but there’s always an opportunity for growth, right? Here’s what we learned. [BSH]

*Unbelievably, a professional sports writer came away from that Sharks game asking the question, “what if the Flyers young defensemen are bad?” Yes. It’s the young ones. Certainly not the vets. [Philly.com]

*Speaking of the young defensemen, we’ve seen Dave use Travis Sanheim on the power play intermittently, but he should be a permanent fixture. Here’s why. [BSH]

*There was a lot of vitriol being sent in Brian Elliott’s direction on the line after Tuesday’s game, but keeping him in was the right move. Here’s why. [NBC Sports Philly]

*In other goalie news, looks like Alex Lyon will be ready to go soon. [BSH]

*So Vegas has the odds of Hakstol being fired at 30/1. I’d make that bet. [ProHockeyTalk]

*Hey good news, the good prospects are still good. [BSH]

*We need a little fun around here, and thankfully our old pal Seravalli has provided some with this oral history of Gritty’s rise to international prominence. [TSN]

*If you’re always wondering which NHL team is the biggest, or youngest, or oldest, or shortest…this article is for you. It runs down every team. [The Athletic]
