Tuesday Morning Fly By: Cutter? Hardly knew her

*In the middle of the first period of last night’s hockey game, a goddamned nuclear bomb dropped on the Flyers universe. Cutter Gauthier will not be a Flyer. [BSH]

*President of Hockey Ops Keith Jones had some things to say on the matter during the second intermission. [BSH]

*Right so uuuhhhh there was a hockey game. It stunk. RECAP!

*Last night Carter Hart started his second game in a row for the first time since early December. Does this mean anything? Probably not. Unless you were unsure about who the starter here is. [NBC Sports Philly]

*So going back to that game against Calgary… there are more than a couple of reasons to believe that that game marks a turning point for this team, maybe in spite of last night’s loss. [Inquirer]

*You know what’s been a nice surprise? Egor Zamula on the power play. Not sure anyone really saw that coming. [Inquirer]

*We are nearly PRECISELY halfway through the season, which makes this a good time to take a look around the Metro and see who’s good and who stinks. [The Athletic]

*And finally, somehow the Toronto Maple Leafs continue to pay guys over ten million dollars a season and somehow remain cap compliant. It boggles the mind. Cannot relate. [Sportsnet]
